THE LOCAL AREA
Being only an hour south of Roscoff, Le Coty Farm provides an excellent centre for exploring western Brittany. Hundreds of fantastic, deserted beaches are within an hours drive. If it should rain, the historic cities of Morlaix, Quimper and Brest are in easy reach. Brest has the largest aquarium in Europe.
The quaint little village of Plouyé is only 5 minutes walk away and has a shop (selling fresh bread), a church and 3 bars! Only 10 minutes away is the picturesque town of Huelgoat.
The main town, Carhaix-Plougher, 16 miles away, happens to host one of Europe’s largest music festivals over 3 days in July; a chance to see some big names like Jo Cocker and the Cranberries along with many of the major Breton musicians. .
During the summer, almost every town and village has a Fest Noz - the traditional Breton festival of song, dance with plenty of food and drink.
Huelgoat and the national forest
Huelgoat, meaning "the tall woods", is just 5 miles away. It's a very picturesque little town, nestling on the edge of a lake. It has many quaint little restaurants and bars, a supermarket and a local produce market each Thursday.

It is set in the Amourique National Park, which offers many diverse landscapes and activities. Well-marked trails lead through the beautiful forest along cascading rivers, strewn with massive moss-covered boulders.
Hundreds of tracks criss-cross the wild moorland of the Mont d'Arrées offering exhilerating walking, cycling and horse-riding. Lake Drennec lies on the western edge of the moor and offers yacht, canoe and wind-surfing hire, easy walking and a very safe sandy beach with terrace cafe and restaurant.
The Beaches

The nearest beaches are only about 40 minutes away. You can chose to go north to the more rugged, wild Pink Granite Coast, great for rock-pooling and walking. |
To the south there are the long sandy beaches of Benodet and Concarneau, for those who just want to really relax. To the west is the Crozon peninsular with it's amazingly varied coastline, Pentrez beach is miles long, famous for sand yatching. |

Other Activities
| Just 15 minutes away is the pretty old town of Chateauneuf du Faou on the banks of the beautiful Brest-Nantes canal. There you can hire all manner of interesting forms of transport, both for use on the water and along the well-maintained towpath. These include canoes, motor boats, 'water bikes', mountain bikes and 4 seater bikes. Just nearby is the lovely chateau and gardens of Trevarez. |
